Hi, my name is David Bari.
I was accepted into the Working Men of Christ program and went to the House of Joshua in Topeka after getting out of prison. WMOC gave me a second chance to get up on my feet. It our mission here. In Topeka, I couldn’t get a job to save my life, but I was able to contribute to the ministry by helping with transportation and Bible studies. Within 3 months of getting out of prison, I was asked to become a House Mentor at the House of Jeremiah in Wichita.
In Wichita, I continued serving the program, taking over transportation duties, Bible studies in house, and entrusted with administrative work in the ministry. Eventually, I was able to get a job, which led to other ministry networking opportunities which continue to this day. After the former House Director was called to another opportunity with his family, I was asked to take over as the new House Director.
God has been so good to me since I truly found him while being incarcerated. If you told me I would go to prison, find Christ, start giving sermons in prison, only to get out and into a Christ centered home where I would eventually be put in charge of former inmates such as myself, all trying to start a new life for themselves while growing in Jesus, I’d call you crazy. But isn’t is crazy how God changes lives around?
I now serve as House of Jeremiah’s House Director, and continue to establish and make new connections in and for WMOC, helping to expand and develop this ministry, while also guiding and mentoring the students that come into the program. I can’t take any credit for anything. Only God could have established this complete 180 change in my life in such a short amount of time. I thank Him every day for what He has done for me and through me, and am amazed at how He still keeps surprising me time and time again. Praise the LORD!
