Mentoring House
The House of Joshua opened in Topeka KS, just a couple of months after the House of Jeremiah in Wichita, KS. The House of Joshua is also a discipleship home dedicated to the transformation of men's lives that have been previously incarcerated. WMOC has partnered with the KDOC and Mentoring 4 Success. Which means we develop a relationship with those coming to our homes before they release from prison. which creates a safe landing pad for those being released from prison to step right into our home. Hello, my name is Lance Torrez, and first and foremost, all Glory and Honor goes to God.
I currently serve as the Director at the House of Joshua in Topeka, Kansas, and as the Intake Director for WMOC (Working Men of Christ). My journey with WMOC began on December 21, 2022, when I was introduced to the program by Spencer Lindsey while I was in Shawnee County Jail. I'm truly thankful that God moved on his heart to reach out to me during a critical point in my life.
Since arriving at the House of Joshua, I have lead Bible studies, grown spiritually, and building strong relationships with the brothers in the house. I have had opportunities to serve in place I never thought I’d be such as PGA (golf tournaments), the Kentucky Derby, and College Move-In, etc.
Through this time, God has broken strongholds that the enemy had on my life, especially the pull toward the streets. Today, I have the incredible blessing of walking alongside other men as they pursue Christ. Watching them grow spiritually and bear fruit has been one of the greatest joys of my life. God has restored relationships within my family and allowed me to be apart of my children lives.
I’m deeply thankful for the guidance and wisdom of Fred Morrisette and Spencer Lindsey. Their leadership, mentorship, and example have helped me grow into this role and continue to shape me as a fisher of men
